Strictly speaking of BUICKS

This is a C&P from my original parts wanted section  below. Ive come a long way and maybe this can garner some more readership.

Anyways, the BADLASS is up and running and relatively reliable. Scored a nice trim package and still on the hunt for some sheet metal for this winters upcoming body job.

I like doing a lotta pics, so theres always some color (sometimes off color LOLOL) in my posts. Right now my desktop is getting overhauled with .060 over slugs and a roller cam. Achmed our computer guy makes 20.00 housecalls and mine should be ready tonight.

Clanceman… call me out on this new thred so I know it worked OK? Happy Holeshot 4th everyone!

Wowee!! Two months and no interaction?? Hows the Clanceman doin? Probably put 500 miles on the BADLASS this summer. Runs at 170F, leaks NO oil, gets 15 MPG's, and peels the freak out! Trying to get the shop done before winter; put a 120K BTU furnace in 2 years ago, and finally ran the ductwork this past week. Added an intake filter to it as well. Now I am a complete man LOL...

Out last week with the BL and idling around town, got stopped by a Wisc. state trooper on a motorcycle for not running a hood of all things! Young cop was as polite as can be and issued a warning and a nice "Since youre gonna paint it this winter, get a hood on it..." word to the wise. He said probably no other cops wouldve stopped me, but he wants to be sure we are "informed" about OEM compliance laws. Fenders on hot-rods, and another bite, no shaved door handles! Whats OEM has to perform OEM. Aint that a pisser?

Anyways, lifes good in TR. Stay tuned for some progress reports! Bill

Reading this and seeing your pics makes me want my Buick back! Great progress and congrate for no oil leaks and great performance. Yeah I’m sure I’d get pulled over for no hood either. I’m a stock look guy but if you need clearance the cowl induction hoods look awesome on this era Buick 👍

Wow, so I guess you don't see too many rat rods in Wisconsin. Nice work on the car and the shop, glad you are enjoying it!

According to the trooper, its all how its presented. I plead ignorance, but now I know for sure. Actually I read about this and Wisconsin in particular, on the HAMB about 2 weeks before the pinch. So now its official.
I planned on a hood anyway, so if the Q-jet doesnt fit, Ill get another hood (a pal has one for 100.00) and cut a hole in the worst of the two and install a cowl induction type hood scoop to that. I too think it would look good.

The last issue is gonna be a GS style air cleaner. One with the twin snorkels to the front with a foam seal to the hood. Nothing is cast in concrete yet.

Ratrods and just about anything can be found in abundance around here, but I am the one that gets the pinch; OUCH! Theres a real ratty job with a hemi in it with four pipes outa each cylinder head and see the guy all over town. Ill hafta stop him and ask him about that. Even the cop mentioned "hobbyist" or "collector" style plates which are good for 11 months, excluding January. The colors are absolutely LAME, as in olive drab or ready to puke blue and you cant get them personalized. Ive got the young punk and his older sister with matching tags. Its a special thing for me! WOW! September 5th last on here??? Thats a record for me LOL. Fall is one of my busy seasons, storing toys and getting the estate ready for ol' White Whiskers' arrival. Being retired, there just aint enough time in the day...

Started working on the BADLASS about Oct 1st. This year is some interior work, as in new trunk floor, rugs and headliner (and vacuuming up 30 lbs of mouse turds) haha, and then a bunch of minor body work. She's ready for real primer this week and paints due here around Friday next. Midnight sapphire blue metallic BC/CC with lace panties... She is the BADLASS after all!

Spoke with the Clanceman and Kevin told me to swing by... YO KEV! Hope alls well everyone. Happy New Year!  Bill in TR

Thanks Kev! Yeah, just trying to put a touch of 70's custom into it. Yesterday I decided to go ahead and prime the jambs for paint. If for nothing else to match the new stuff. They were already dark blue, but tired looking. Just finished up with the drivers side when Pat came out to tell me to look outside. Man! There was at least a foot of snow (in 5 hours!) so I got the blower going. Three times it took to get the drive and sidewalks cleared.

This week Ive got doctor stuff going on; regular yearly stuff, so Im gonna try to get the cheapo primer sanded, and 2 coats of good primer laid down. That can sit for a few days before a nice wet sanding, THEN PAINT! Bill
