What's the deal with these american racing wheels?

Hi everyone,

What's the deal with these wheels? A set of these american racing wheels originally came on my car. I pulled them off and replaced them with a set of wheel vintigues 15x7 steelies. I was gonna take them to the scrap man until I saw how incredibly expensive they are new. What's special about these and why are they so expensive? I'm not gonna use them, I don't think they fit the car, I was just curious, are they popular in Salt flat racing? Are they nostalgic in some way? Thank you!

 Hi Dan,

I didn't see a part number, although there are some serial numbers on them. They do have a "15x7" stamp. And another stamp that says "012204", maybe that one stands for the date January 22, 2004?
