It's not a good idea to run w/o a thermostat. The back of the block can heat up and have problems. I suggest you gut the the thermostat of the tower, spring and valve and put the main plate back in for a restriction.

Hmmm... not a bad idea. Was gonna bite the bullet and pick up a DOLE or an AC Delco unit. I couldnt get much over 150 today w/o. Bill

Thanks Spike! Ill be 64 in September and by the time I complete this on 12 months from now, it may be the last project. Its just keeping up with the stuff after this one. I really gave her hell; even according to thwe wife. Only time will tell! Bill

Just got back from Carquest with a new T stat. This one looks a ton better than the chinaman unit. Plus theres a "jiggle valve" on it What the heck is that for? Anyway Kinky Friedman got me this time... hecho en Israel. Drpped the tank yesterday too. Ordered a new one for 72.00 including the truck PLUS a new sending unit in stainless for 32.00. We are on the road to perdition. No darn build sheet either.  Bill
