My Speedometer quit working Friday.  Troubleshooting, the Speedo head works, replaced the cable, driven gear is good.  The drive gear is spinning on the tail shaft, it is the plastic gear and it appears the retaining clip either broke or came out.  Any way to fix this without pulling the tail shaft?  And the Trans?

thanks

Pat

Pat,

Are you refferring to the clip with 7/16 head bolt that holds the speedo housing containing the plastic gear. If your plastic gear is not damaged, dash speedo works and the cable is new. Anything else is all internal....the trans will have to come out.

Dan

It's the drive gear on the tail shaft. Looks like a fun time ahead. I believe I will get a metal gear and do away with the clip.
