Entertaining Offers

In the category of "everything is for sale" I want to let you guys know that I will entertain offers for my Biscayne.  I truly love the car, and have enjoyed all the work I have put into it, as well as the results.  I am not in a big hurry to sell it and will only advertise it with a subtle "For Sale" in the window and by word of mouth.  So, if you know of someone who would be seriously interested, send me a PM and I will provide my contact info to share details.  With all the help I have gotten from 2DoorPost members I wanted you guys to be the first to know it is available.

Pat

Wow really Pat? Sorry to hear that it’s kinda for sale! If I hear of anyone in the market I’ll send them your way! Someone is going to get a fantastic Biscayne that’s for sure. Just curious if you don’t mind sharing, your decision to part with it?

Larry, as I alluded to in a previous post about "You can't go back home" I just don't seem to be able to enjoy this car as I had hoped.  That is, the way I remember my original Biscayne. I like to drive my classic cars.  Had I chosen to go the way you have with your Biscayne, where it is practical and easy to drive it with today's gas and oil, I might feel differently.  But then, it would not have the same feel.  If I was inclined to trailer it to destinations I might feel differently.  An ideal solution would be to build the motor to run on California 91 octane and install an overdrive 5 or 6 speed, but I do not want to spend the money it would cost to do that.  Anyway, I may not sell it if someone does not fall in love with it and make an offer I am willing to take.

Pat
I had a feeling that the way your car is set up is the reason for the potential sale. I really understand! The care and maintenance of Solid lifter cams, high compression and no overdrive are certainly a detriment for frequent driving for sure. Let alone the cost of building a healthy pump gas Big Block and add a 5 or 6 speed that can handle the power with a possible gear change $$$$$! Kinda reminds me of the Beer makers slogans. Know when to say when. I get a little sad when someone contemplates selling a beloved car but I also understand when the fun factor is not there anymore and especially the reasons behind it! After all we’re just caretakers and Your Biscayne is a great car in great hands! The work you have done to make it right really shows and doesn’t go unnoticed. Someone eventually is going to have a very well done Biscayne. Hoping you continue to enjoy it some until that someone special has to have it.Thanks for putting this out there and listening to me.
Rant over
Larry

Sorry to hear, Pat, but I understand. Big blocks like their fuel, and around here it is about #1.50 per litre. It will likely limit my driving the old Buick some. Bloody government and their taxes. Grrrr.

just my thoughts.
lets say one of us on here bought your car...if I had that car in my garage, regardless if it was 10 years from now, it would still be "Pats Car"
seeng the passion youve put into it, its uniqueness to you, its recreation of your youth, that car might be purchased by someone else but you'd always "own" it. I'd buy it off you in a heartbeat...but it would never mean to me what it means to you. surely a solution exists for you to keep it....change it to what u need to make it useable...
However...honestly...if not you, this is the best, most likely bunch of folks to sincerely appreciate and care for "Pats Car" if it is absolutely unreasonable that you keep it. a few of us would think hard about buying it just to keep it from someone who doesnt revere it as we do.
hope i made you think...
I get this is a detached group and we may not be aware of the entire reason and i definitely appreciate that if there is hidden reason. I also tend to put cars with emotion...never a checkbook, but I am not in everyones daily life , just mine. Shes an incredible car and dollars can't purchase the fact that its yours.

My car will always be Al Stager’s car

I vote change it up, go LS, change to 3.08’s and M22Z (3) (you can buy mine if you really want to) do whatever makes it fun

Sell the current drivetrain....... I say go for it!!!

Pat, sorry to hear you might be selling your Biscayne. I think I know what you mean regarding enjoying your car. I haven't had mine on the road yet, but am hoping I will enjoy driving it. Lots of anticipation. There is something about the cars that we grew up with. If you do sell it, someone is going to get a great car. You have done a fantastic job on it.

I can relate to how you feel. I've read your post about how you can't go home again. I'm there also. I've been into cars the majority of my life. I was fortunate to have an older Brother that was a gearhead. We lived for street/drag racing from early 1960s on. There were so many of us and we always helped each other. Now my Brother has passed along with some other Buddies and some have retired to other parts of the country. My Son never liked getting dirty and I put him through college to have a professional job and it worked out but he did have to move away. So now I'm sitting in my garage with tools/lift that I could never have dreamed of back in the day. We had an old shed with a little coal stove, one would get warm while the other worked on the ground in the winter. We thought we were living because of the canvas traps to keep the snow out. I can't believe we never burned down that shed when we had that little stove glowing. At least I have my Grandkids to break up the time.Good luck. Ken
