The reason....paint and body work is the most expensive.

So... worked on her again Sat morning. God reminded me what a pain in the A$$ front spring r/r is again - guess I blocked that memory... anyway - cut front to get the springs off of preload due to front end weight loss and took some off the back as well to tuck again post exhaust fab ( have abt 5" now before it bottoms the axle  on the pipes...) - tossin in a pic of Sat nite - driving my old flathead powered 48 coupe.. chasing my son driving my 85 C10 at dusk on some random Oklahoma rural highway...

I'm still here -  busy as heck! - seems everyone these days wants their aircraft fixed... been dancing with who brought me so to speak - car takes a "back seat".

Got done blocking 1st primer coat to 320 - re-shot 3 heavy wet coats now just have to block  to 600 and hope that's it. Almost time for paint.

Since I wasn't set on one "brand" of paint - I had local reps for PPG - Dupont ( Axalta) and BASF all swing by and try to sell me... they all wanted my business on the aircraft side also for our paint area here at the shop. kindof the norm - everyone's touting their stuff and slamming the other brands...leaving me kinda shrugging.

The BASF rep  brought me some Glasurit clear - reducer and activator and a half pint of base color to give it a shot. He warned me about expensive etc.. but I called a few folks who'd had their cars shot w it etc... anyway - I painted the section where I fabbed the piece on the hood and went ahead and did the original spare also.

Stuff goes on wet and heavy - hafta use their techniques instead of standard practices as far as distance, speed and fluid nozzle size on the HVLP... ( slower - closer) anyway - I'm a total fan now of this stuff and it's the plan for the finish on the car.

last guide coat goin on tonight - blocking for the last time sat morning - then I'll move it in the next room and shoot color on it.  using all this work to procrastinate wiring... bought the whole shebang  American Autowire  OEM upgrade kit for the car and I'm saving it for last.

That's about all I know.
