Yep....I will be at Stanton in 2 weeks......that Studebaker is among the quickest car at PSMCDR's. Ryan love 's these Stude's.

THE Deuce belongs to Owen Simpson, Owen held the F.A.S.T. and PSMCDR's fastest ET until this years F.A.S.T. event , where he was dethroned by a 340 Duster. If I know Owen.....he will have something new and improved on his Deuce to show that 340 Duster

There is another similar Studebaker that has an R2 Supercharged engine and 4 speed. It is known as the Stude Tomato. Not quite as fast as the Wrapper, but but still runs high 12s. Ted Harbit pilots both of them.

He is the Master of power shifting. It is something you have to see and hear.

What is the technique of power shifting?  Is it where you keep the gas floored the whole time and still use the clutch to shift (really fast)?  Or is power shifting not using the clutch?  Sorry for the green question I've heard variations on power shifting.

The clutch is indeed used.....it is very fast, extremely intense and aggressive. Almost to the point that you are trying or wanting something to break. It's when road rage is totally accepted and wanted. The best 4 speed drivers are very knowledgeable about their cars and know the ins and outs of how things work.....very "Jenkins" like, and Not like Tom Cruise in "Days of Thunder"
Also your body functionality plays a huge part of how you shift that car......a lot of guys never place their left foot (heal) on the floor until the end of the quarter mile. Super exilarating!

3rd Pedals is how I Roll

I have also built a few "Clutch Turbo's" that is an entire different Beast

cool, that's what I thought. Yeah I love watching those old videos, there's an in-car of Grumpy from 1968 in his Camaro, showing the art.

Some of the old school guys had transmissions that were "slick-shifted" with every other tooth ground off the slider and hub. This made it less likely to hang up during hard gear changes. Not recommended for the street though. Shifting like that is hard on transmission and is best left for all out competition where frequent transmission replacement or rebuilds are expected, or when trying to impress your buddies .
