B Body rear sway bar - opinions
Permalink

I have been looking at this one from OPG.

https://www.opgi.com/chevelle/1970/chassis-suspension/suspension-components/CH2233/

My understanding is Chevy used the same bar on the A & B body cars with spacers between the bar and control arms on the B body to make up for the extra width.  This kit from OPG that also comes with the pieces to box the lower arms looks like a good deal.  I have the info for building the spacers and locating the bar mount holes.

Has anyone done this with a car that did not have the F41 rear sway bar?  My car has the thicker front bar already.

pat, i installed a rear bar on my '69, it is indeed the same PN bar used on the '68-'72 A bodies

i cut/made my own tubing spacers to use inside the lower arm, used 4 long bolts that passed through both sides of the arm.

the sway bar was still available from GM a couple years ago...

wow I'm happily surprised you can still get stuff like that for our old cars thru the dealership. I wonder if I can get front suspension rebuild parts from the Chevy dealership, like ball joints, bushings, etc.

Hellwig has tooled up a rear bar that is the same except it's wider to eliminate the need for spacers and will bolt in place of a factory F41 bar. When demand gets high enough they will go into production if they haven't done so already. One of the guys on chevy talk has the prototype and was working with hellwig to iron out the bugs.

I saw that post at Chevytalk, it was a while ago. I have other things to do first but consider to ad a rear sway bar to my BelAir as well...
