With everything out, no better time to replace heater core.  Note original Harrison heater core- cool!

Yep, I have a large stash of them. Do not replace your heater core with a repop heater core. The geometry of the inlet and outlet tubes are off on a repop making the install very difficult. Instead have your original heater core Cleaned, Tested and Restored if need be.....most Specialty Radiator Shops can do this. If you cannot find anyone in your area.....let me know and I can give you my shops info.....They have restored dozen for me.

Dan

Dan, this is excellent advise!  Thanks!  I am definately taking your advice.  I already have a call into the guy I had do my original radiator, and hopefully he's still doing it (was close to retirement when I had him restore my original radiator 3 years ago).  If I can't find a local specialist, I may have to hit you up, so thanks for offering.  NOTHING beats factory fit :) "Yep, I have a large stash of them."  Smart man, Dan!

Guys I’m a numbers freak! I think I might have a problem when I get excited that my factory engine mounts still have the part numbering still visible in the rubber!  I’m putting these aside for now and putting in new regular rubber replacements for the day 2 build.  I wondered if they marked them from factor, now I know👍

Kevin,

All the original GM motor mounts are numbered.....easy fella, LOL.
They also usually have some paint inspections on and around them too.

Original heater core back with a clean bill of health, and my guy also re-rounded the Tube ends for a good seal on the hoses.  Also pictured is a cool factory chalk mark hiding behind the air blower housing, along with an upside down partial VIN stamp.

   Kevin,

I ran across these on eBay incase you didn't see them.  I see your docs say you're suppposed to have bumper guards.  No affiliation to the seller, just ran across them on my daily hunt for NOS parts.

I like NOS parts, I'm pretty sure you do too.

Randy thank you so much for thinking of me! Yes I love NOS parts as well! In this instance I’ve already purchased NOS guards but again thanks so much for reaching out!

Thanks Larry! Almost done the rear suspension bushing replacements and brakes. Then back to engine blueprinting. Got the Scattershield already dialed in for the engine, had to use some offset dowels but that PITA is done👍

Car progress.  I’m finally finishing up the side projects I started “while the drivetrain was out”.  Ran all new brake linee; hoses, distribution block, all new rear brakes, rebuilt the rear control arms and replaced sway bar mounts.  Bled system and it is all good no leaks & solid pedal.  New ebrake cables.   Now car can stop just need to make it go.  A few weeks and I can concentrate on my 355 sbc build.  Pictures aren’t great couldn’t get phone to do good ones.

I like it, what compression ratio are you aiming for?
