Wow Kevin love the setup on the distributor! Let alone the parts compiled for the build ! Great stuff there I can’t wait to see and hear it as you move along with it! That’s gonna be a blast to drive!

Wow, lot's of nice engine eye candy! And I really like the distributor conversion. Whose conversion kit did you go with?

Thanks guys! Pat, I sent a numbers-correct points distributor to Dave Ray and he built it all out. Also spent a good hour and a half on the phone with him while he gave me the whole run-down. I am very happy with the product and speaking with Ray is awesome because he really knows his stuff.

I appreciate the information Kevin. I was just having this discussion with a buddy of mine about what to do for ignition when I do the engine for my 66. Now I know thanks!

Last night I pulled the original engine to set aside for now and make way for a hot rod 350.  I was very glad that I was able to pull the engine without needing to remove the hood👍.  While engine is out I will be replacing motor mounts, heater core, and all the brake lines.  While at the same time building up the hot rod 350.

Well done! All the stars were aligned for you to remove the engine without having to remove the hood

Love the Phillies front plate

I assume the current engine is the Original Born With Engine?

I commend you for staying with a SBC....most guys would have went BBC.

I do not like to use "Matching Numbers"....when I talk with car guys....As I never know how knowledgeable they are?

Numbers Matching means just that.....there are way too many re-stamped engines out there....making them Numbers Matching now

Dan I share the same pet peeve as well!  Proud to say that my car is truely numbers matching.  Here’s the photos of 3 data points, you may have to zoom in on a couple as it is hard to capture on the phone

Hey Dan, do you think this might be the original thermostat?  Here are 2 photos.  The bottom view shows a “CE” in the very center, which might be the CE mark associated with outside US standards and since this car was built in Canada....??  Maybe or no?

I cannot say that it is the original, however it is a very early design Delco Remy Thermostat

Thanks Dan, how cool! if you guys haven't noticed already, I'm into automotive "archeology" hehe. side note- I compared the throwout bearing that I took out of the car when I first replaced the clutch assembly with the NAPA circa 2015 throwout bearing that I put in that was "new". The old one I took out is all steel and has a nice, rolller bearing "feel", whereas the NAPA is half plastic and has a whole bunch of slop in it. Stuff made today is a lot of times crap.

Cool stuff, Kevin. I can't believe the hood didn't have to come off for the heart removal surgery! I love seeing the Made in Canada label. As of December of this year, it will be no more. It's kind of making me give my brand loyalty a second thought. I'm not happy about GM's decision to leave Canada, especially after hearing about their $81 Billion profit this year. That, and our government's bail-out of just nine short years ago to keep GM out of receivership is clearly a case of what-have-you-done-for-me-lately.
