Several years ago I helped my best friend build a 300 Deluxe post coupe with a 300hp 350 for the pure stock drags. The car weighed just over 3400lbs with him in it, and it ran 12.50's-60's in pure stock trim.
I'm hoping to have this Buick down close to that race weight.

FWIW His car was frost green when he bought it from California with B90 bright trim, but he removed that stuff and painted the car Cortez Silver. It was a darn nice car, was featured in Musclecar Enthusiast Magazine.

Yep, I know the 300 Deluxe Post Sedan.....I never knew it was not an original Cortez Silver paint 300 Deluxe. Was she a real 350 car? As they are very rare?

She did the Best Burn Outs in the pits

I have that magazine issue. She was recently up for sale?

Tom,

Does your friend still have the B90 trim....I would be interested in buying all of it if it is all complete?

I have a feeling these are different CS 300 Deluxe 1969 Chevelles for some reason.

Just thinking out loud.

Yep, thats Brians old car. It was sold to a fellow in Canada, a friend of Bruno Beltrame and Pete Simpson. The fellow in Canada converted it to a 4 speed.

As far as the B90 trim, Brian hated it. Who the hell would order a post coupe and want it gussied up with that crap? Might as well order A.C. power steering, and power windows.(quote from Brian)  He couldn't get that stuff off quick enough, he literally "ripped" that stuff off and crammed it in the garbage can, sorry.

Several years ago, close to 20 maybe 25 years, Brian had stumbled upon a true 375hp 4 speed ss post coupe in a barn in a neighboring town. For years Brian tried to buy the car, but the owner wasn't selling.  LeMans blue, black int. One day he went to try his luck at buying, only to find the owner had died, and his family had sold the car. We have no idea who got it,or where it went. It was located in South West Michigan it's entire life up to that point.

Based on my research and out of all the Lemans Blue 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan Chevelles in my registry that came out of Michigan.....I believe the Chevelle that Brian found....is alive and well in Florida.

For years I thought the car was a fake, some old junk post coupe someone glued some SS emblems on. It took a long time for me to be convinced that Chevrolet built such an animal.

I would be interested to hear if said car was found in Marcellus, Michigan?

Before we get too far into this discussion, I better talk to Brian about what color it was. Over the years I looked at so many different 300 Deluxe post's with him, I may be getting the color of the SS mixed up with one of the others we looked at, that was back in my drinking daysdisbelief

Tom,

Current owner is extremely private.....even with me. I will try to find out more....but may be a difficult task. I do respect car collectors privacy if they wish to be left alone. Code of ethics

Moderator please ban this guy, he is bugging me This is funny because Dan is the Moderator......we enjoy going back and forth, don't stress that we are poking fun We just had a good man to man heart to heart about a fellow car guys passing. RIP Brian

Nope, I will not stop thinking out loud, way too many guys don't E-say things in fear of looking foolish. NOT ME!! I don't fear looking foolish at all, I fear for not saying or doing something that is fun or meaningful. I shied away from way too much for my first 40 years, not being shy for my second 40

YUP I love my Olds, I will try to share an image..........I am car crazy, always have been, always will, and I now own a car like the ones I have drooled over in magazines, on the internet, and in person.

Back to your regular scheduled program!!! I though we were talking about Buick 350's that are slower than Oldsmobile W-31's?

Ryan

So well said Ryan

Indeed - I enjoy the back and forth fun dialog.

As we all know too well - life is too short and precious.
Have fun, enjoy the moment. Be a good person, husband, father, uncle and man.

Hey Tom, I know I am biased, but that Buick of yours would look killer with steelies and dog dishes.  It may be the popular thing to do these days, but I wouldn't have my car any other way.  I liked doggies when doggies weren't cool.

Jeez, it's difficult to say what I'm trying to say without making it sound like I don't like your set-up.  I do, and I know this is a looooong way from your first rodeo, as they say.  It is a cool car, with a pretty cool story.

If the whole automotive hobby wouldn't have jumped on the "me too" dog dish bandwagon, I would have run them. I have been a big fan of them myself, and ran them on quite a few cars I've built.  I purposely didn't run them because today the dog dish thing is overdone. It used to be you ran dog dishes to make your car different, today you have to run rally wheels, ss mags, magnum 500's to make your car look different.

Don't get me wrong, I like them and still think they're cool, but to me they are kind of like the rat rod craze, here today gone tomorrow. Burned out on seeing them.

Yep, thats her. It was on ebay once, craigslist, Buick club classifieds, and a few other auto related web sites. I bought it from the Niece of the original owners, and her husband. They started off trying to get $20,000 for it because a family member told them if it was at Barrett Jackson, that is what it would be worth....Yeah Right! I told them maybe if it was a Chevelle and had several bidders fighting for it. Nope, just an unwanted old Buick, figure on less than half of that.
