Red car is nice....saw it awhile back when searching the net for L78 b-body info...someone put the flags in the wrong spot...they are in the caprice model's location higher up and forward a bit. Factory mistake or restoration mistake on replacement fenders possibly but otherwise a beautiful car.

I'm confused- are you saying that someone mistakingly positioned the flags on a 65 in the 66 Caprice position?? That would be pretty bad since Caprice began in 1966!

Caprice debuted in February '65. The flags are placed higher on caprice models in '65 .

I was wrong, I shoulda done my research. Just brushed up on Caprice history, very cool! Didn't realize it was a 65 4 door hardtop Impala option before the separate series in 1966. I love learning stuff like this, this site rocks!

Most '65 Caprice cars came with 396 engines too. Extra sound deadener softer body mounts and suspension and it had SS style hubcaps with bowtie centers and the rear trim is similar to SS.

Sweet! I put an LS1 in my 53 Studebaker in 2006 now have almost 40k miles on it. There is so much more support now for doing these swaps it should be much easier. If you have not found them yet I highly recommend this site, folks there were a tremendous help to me: ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids-28/

You will love the drivability, power and economy.

If I can be of help from my experience let me know.

Pat

Mark,

Don't be a "Flamer" get those flames off and keep them off......you want to set a good example in South Florida

Looking Good

We will certainly miss you at Mundelein....have that spare bedroom ready for me when I come down and visit.

Be safe my friend.
