Today I delivered the Chevelle to Nostalgic Auto Body where Eric and Crew will do their Magic.

I documented the date of arrival

Big day today, we assembled the body and all sheet metal on a donor Frame and Core Support.
This is the very important step that most restorations shops miss or fail to do. It’s the only way to restore a car properly.
She has come a long way since November 16th. I replaced the hood with GM Hood, both doors with GM doors, NOS Front Fenders, new reproduction inner and and outer rear wheel houses, and new reproduction full Trunk Section.
I had the the Hood, the Doors, the Header Panel and Trunk Lid all Chemically Dipped and E-coated.
Next we Tag and Bag all the body shims and body bushings....blow the car apart. Start final prep for primer, sanding, more primer, more block sanding and then paint

Dan

Everything looks super clean and straight. Most people have no concept of all that it takes to get even to this point.

Well done!

Dan great job and thanks for the great update. Curious did you guys remove the quarters in order to replace the inner and outer wheelhouses and full trunk floor? For access and then weld the quarters back on? The whole process impressed me, so much work to wrap my head around, you’re the man!

Kevin,

NO, no need to remove the quarters.....just cut out the enire trunk and wheel houses....the trick is cutting out one wheel house out at a time, and installing new one and then repeat the process on the other side....while supporting the opposite quarter panel with a panel brace.

Looks amazing. Appears to have been a good car to start with.
What a great body style.

When I was a kid , 70 Chevelles, I could not get enough of them. Then I saw our friends 69. I was hooked.

Thanks for sharing the progress Dan.
