I bought my 1970 Olds 442 Lansing built post coupe 4-speed car in 1995.

It is a numbers matching car that is Twilight blue with a black interior.

It came with a few options like A/C, gauge package, buckets, console, power

steering but no power brakes.

It had been hit in the front end and the previous owner had purchased a N.O.S. fender

and various front end components to get it back on the road again.  I bought it with

the intention of restoring it and enjoying it.  Well, several moves and life events later

I have finally been finding time to tear it apart and work on the rust issues and hopefully

get it to its former glory.  I also plan to delete as much of the A/C components as I can

and run it in the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags in MI.  I am planning on going with a set of

steel wheels and poverty caps.

It has rust in the quarters, as well as the driver's floor and I will probably find more as I strip

the  layers of paint off.

Here are a few pics of it.  The first is not long after I bought it.  The rest are in progress pics.

Kevin, Welcome here from Mission, BC. I googled the color of your 442 and WOW, she's gonna be a stunner. I speak for all of us when I say WE LOVE BUILD PHOTOS!
Did your 442 come with the Red inner front wheel wells as an option for the post model?

Looking forward to more photos.

Lorne.

Kevin,

Welcome aboard......that will be a beautiful 442 Post Sedan when complete. I love the picture the BIG ASS HAMMER, Priceless!

Please keep this thread going with all of your progress

Just a word of advice....since your car is a real 1970 442 4 Speed Post Sedan and it originally came with A/C. (very rare) Do not make the mistake of removing the entire A/C system off the firewall. Your 442 Post Sedan is worth much more as an all original car....especially being this rare.

Welcome I love your car!! I have a similar Olds. The best option is the B90 bright door and window trim 4 speed with AC Sports coupe, nice!!! Keep us in the loop and share lots of pictures PS: do you attend PSMCDR as a spectator? I do until my car is ready. Ryan

The vent windows and sport mirrors are at odds on 1970 Sports Coupes. A friend has a red 70 442 W30 Sports coupe and I think the mirrors are in a different location than Holiday Coupe to clear the vent window, but they are hard to use in that location. Just trivia

Welcome to the group.  I loved those Dr. ?? W-30 cars.  When I was discharged in 1968, I couldn't wait to get to my local Olds dealer and order a 68 Cutlass Supreme coupe.  Mine was a turquoise color with black vinyl top and white interior.  I loved the looks of that car but it wasn't fast enough and I traded it in 1969.

Lorne is actually what I go by, and makes sense to use it here since there are 2 of us.

Hi Lorne,

That is pretty much what it will look like.  I am excited and can't wait till I paint it also,

even though it will be a while.

Only the W cars came with the red inner fender wells.  The rest were black.

I will post more pics soon.  I will be hopefully be welding up the floor in the next month or two.

Thank Dan!

Needed the hammer to get the upper a-arm bolts free.

I agree about the A/C.  Seeing as I plan on racing it, I want to just get the block-off

plate that goes on the firewall which we are allowed to use.  I don't want to take

away any value from the car.  I believe it is only one of a little over 500 cars built like that.

Hi Ryan!  Thanks!

I race my other car.  I am known at that race as Munson because my car is a gold

1970 442 convertible just like Roy Munson's in the movie King Pin.

I have been racing in that series on and off since 2006.  I was there last month.

I have the same user name on v8buick.com.
