68 BelAir trunk mat

Just tapping into the deep knowledge on here, has anyone bought a decent trunk mat for the 68 Biscayne or Belair? Not nos (can't afford ). I'm thinking that maybe caprice might work? Let me know, just trying to keep the trunk decent.

Tommy I have not looked into getting one but I know our sedans share the same deck lid as a convertible and all models except the 2 dr hardtop. There must be a difference as the trunk pan on the sedan has a different part# vs the hardtop and convertable. What difference in dimensions are I do not know. I'm sure there pretty close as the body mounts are in the same locations. The CARS Inc catalog shows part # 12496 but its listed for a hardtop. Hope that helps with your search

Sorry Tommy I have not dealt with H&H . I usually deal with cars Inc for parts as I can pick them up as I'm local to them. I think Luttys has it as well. I'm not sure of the quality or what any them  look like . Most of what I have seen with parts like these is they usually come from 1 or 2 mfg and varuous company's like I have listed carry them.

Well this is the trunk mat from H&H. Should help keep the trunk less scratched up from lawn chairs and stuff.IMG_20160909_142119_270[1].jpg

Looks good, I have one coming also. I need to unbolt my battery box to put it down. It will cover up the floor patch I did when I removed the fuel cell and sump. Not that it was all that visible.

Forgive me if I have already said this and repeated this a few times.....here is my take on Trunk Mats.

When I finish a car for a client.....among one of my recommendations on how to maintain their car.....is the trunk mat. When the car is put away....in the garage.....I don`t care it its a day, a week, a month or years.....the trunk mat comes out of the trunk. When they take the car out and they will be using the trunk....or showing the car....the trunk mat goes back into the car`s trunk.
Most car collector`s have beautiful man cave`s, garages and warehouse`s with year round heat, a/c, heated floors, dehumidifiers, etc.
A trunk mat is a moisture trap.....I cannot tell you how many trunks are in terrible shape in only a short while after cars are restored. When I restore a trunk it is any entire process.

There is more to this story....a lot of your typical car guys that attempt to restore a trunk on there own....fail to do their home work.....on how to properly restore a trunk. The guys that spray there trunks with a rattle can splatter paint, let them dry and place a trunk mat on top of it....when they leave that trunk mat in there for 3 months and try to pull that mat up.....they will not be happy with the results. The plot even thickens if the cars are left outside and have a poor trunk seal and or if the cars are exposed to bake in the sun.

Just sharing my thoughts with my Post Sedan family

Dan
