Hi,

I´m from Stuttgart/Germany and recently bought a `66 BelAir 2-door Sedan Big Block car

Came here cause I noticed a link in a thread at Chevytalk.

My very first car was a 72 Chevy Nova

Now I call the Bel Air, and a 53 Ford and a 62 Olds Starfire my own

I´m still very excited about my new purchase, looking Forward to spend some time here

Damir, Welcome aboard. I'm in Mission BC. Glad to have ya amongst us.

She's a real beauty. I'll bet the V'dub certainly felt the strain pulling that Chevy iron around...biggrin

Damir,

Welcome to the forum. I really like your Bel Air. My wife and I lived in Germany for 6 years on two separate US Air Force Assignments. We lived in Zweibrucken and Heidelberg. Our older daughter was born in Landstuhl. We now live in California. Did you find your car in Germany or did you have to import it? I know there used to be salvage yards that specialized in American cars, I wonder if any still exist?

Looking forward to more details on your car and the reaction to it from other folks in Europe.

Pat

I would say that is a Turbo Diesel.....tons of torque no problem and no strain pulling that Post Sedan.

Great Colors....I assume the interior is also Blue

Guys, you are both wrong, it´s a Mercedes 230TE, 4 Zylinder 132 horse. I had to Keep it in second gear up the hill and rev up to 5500 and it still kept going slower and slower, haha.

Thanks to you all for the Kind words. I´m really happy with this car. Saw it online in a Moment i really wasn´t considering buying another car cause I have lots of things to get done on the other two old cars I have. Then I saw the Chevy and couldn´t resist. I sent a link to a friend of mine and he instantly answered thats just the right car for me, he knows someone who lives near it and he would go and take a look. He made 60 Pictures and described it very well. I went to Amsterdam to take a closer look, took the Trailer with me just in case, and you see I brought it home. It was about 4-500miles or so...

Car left USA about 5 years ago, came from Lebanon/NewYork. Must be an older Restauration. Yeah it´s blue inside two. Engine is a XAA Code 454, 4-speed Muncie and 3.73 12 bolt Posi. Manual Drums all around, Manual steering, Radio delete.

Awesome! We lived in Amsterdam when I very young. What are your plans with it? What improvements will you make if any? It looks great just as she is Happy to hear that the interior is Blue. What was the original exterior color?
What are your other older cars?
Thanks for sharing

Rev up to 5500 and it still kept going slower and slower, haha.....Funny!

Plan is to keep it as is, probably trying to change details that show its not a true L72 car like adding correct exhaust manifolds, six blade fan and small things like that. Of course I have no hope finding an original Dash tach.
I have a few ideas for different wheel sets. Other than that it will basically stay like this.
I have some troubles finding some correct front springs, installed moogs but its much to high now, can't drive like this. Uppercontrol arms touch the frame!!
And there is silicone on few places at the rearend housing, have to keep an eye on that...
