Here is inspiration for you guys!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxZZULq08qo

Hard to believe that was 9 years ago this month. By the way, the motor fired right up after sitting for about 4 years.

(My Stude IS a 2 door post too)

Also I mentioned this on another thread, if you have not found this site: http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids-28/
I recommend it as a great place for info and help on LS conversions.  The folks there helped me a lot.  I am STU COOL on that site.

image.jpgWow I love the video Pat. Great car. I have been doing lots and lots of research on the L/S sites and have found them invaluable.
It's kinda funny because I actually found my engine before my cars. It's quite a long story for probably some other time.
All I can say is that it's amazing when you put out there what you want to do how the world handles itif it's meant to be.
Just curious when I start this build where I should start the thread any ideas anyone?I moved my Bel Air in the garage last Saturday and I'm almost done with teardown!

So there's your answer, start now! You can do it on a thread here, or do it on a photo storage page like flickr and put highlights on here and a link in you signature. I chose to do that because I want to document things in greater detail than might be of interest to others. Plus I have more control of the content on flickr. Looking forward to watching your project progress.

Hi Brian sorry I do not have any photos of the underhood of the blue car. My buddy just did a quick Photoshop of what I will be making my car look like. Thanks for the encouragement. I found this photo of a 68 with an L/S and like how it is placed. I will be doing something similar as I want the engine set back as far as I can get it without modifying the firewall.

JThanks for the suggestions guys. Pat its going to be a chalange for me to document all this. I do have flicker but never use it lol.I'm up for it. The Bel Air has been in the garage now for six days and I've made some good progress on the tear down. My plan is to have everything else out and the car back outside ready for scrap in the next week.I am really amazed at how well this car is coming apart especially considering how rusty it is.

DO NOT - Sell or Scrap that Smog Pump and it's parts - there is good money there - this pump is interchangeable with other models - you can recoup some money

Documenting your work can come in very handy. I took a lot of pictures while doing my LS1 Studebaker swap and they have proved useful later on when I have had the need to go back and remember how I did something. Posting the pictures up where you can write a description can be a great reminder 3-5 years down the road. Not to mention the entertainment and learning value for others. And speaking of that, here is a build thread of a 67 Bel Air LS swap going on at Chevytalk right now. www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showtopic.php

Thanks Dan ,ctk and pat I kind of had a feeling that pump has somthing going for it. The engine and trans are coming out in the next day or so!  I'm picking this car apart it will be just a shell when I'm done with it! Part of the plan with this build was to use what I need ( interior, bumpers and some misc parts ) and sell the rest . = free interior and finance some other things. I'm open to anything else if you all have sugestions? Good call Pat I have a 3 ring binder started for that purpose and will be transferring my photos to my flicker for reference too!!

Happy Easter everyone.Made some more progress on the teardown of the Bel Air this weekend. interior is now completely gutted.I have a few more external parts to pull off the back glass reaR bumper, gas tank ( was replaced at some time ). I will be pulling the engine/trans, doors, decklid and hood with hinges all within this week. My goal is to have it to a shell by next Sunday 4-12-2015. Here's some shots of how the rust is. There is a 40" section of the frame that is gone lol along with other holes in it further back. the seat mount on the driver side is bad and the usual toe board spots on both sides.

Wow, the metal worms have been at that thing. Good you are taking it out of its misery and letting the good parts live on.

image.jpgOk here it is Sunday 4-12-2015. Tear down complete. The Belair is now gutted and all useful/ saleable parts have been removed. Found the pass side frame had been patched Yikes! I still have the shell and am trying to sell it out rite. If I can't find a buyer I will either cut it up and haul it to the scrap yard or figure out a way to trailer it there. Scrap prices from the yards around here are low now. One guy said $ 90. The other place I called said .05 per pound. Anyway enjoy the pics. I will be organizing the parts this week and will start on the Biscayne next weekend!
