Not a Post Sedan cry

Starting a new build....wanting to share progress and pictures.

I just got back home from a 3 day weekend - Greg and I decided to start a long time coming build. Greg has owned a 1969 Daytona Yellow L78 Chevelle for 6-7 years that has been waiting its turn to be restored. This Daytona Yellow Chevelle will be very nice when complete as it lived a very good life as is evident by the condition of all the parts....very pit free and superior condition.

This L78 Chevelle is an M21 4 speed, black cloth bench seat, KK 4.10 posi, Black Vinyl Top. The engine and rear end are 100% born with original to the car.

We gathered all the necessary parts and got organized in order to be able to assemble the entire rolling chassis on my next trip down.

We occasionally sub out certain work....We had our good friend Rick Nelson rivet the upper control arm for this build. Rick it was great seeing you as always. Thanks for your friendship and great fast service.

Our local St. Louis friend Mark Johnson also stopped by for a visit....Mark hope we see you again on my next visit. Great seeing you.

Pics....

Look at the axle tube condition - it`s so refreshing to have them so nice smile

*rubbing hands together* Another great build...Looking forward to it as always.
I am curious about something regarding brake drums...Is there anyone out there ADDING metal to original brake drums, so as they can be turned back down to virgin specs?
I know this process can be done with camshafts (used to work in a prestigious machine shop in my youth)...was curious otherwise.

I have yet to hear of such a service.....may be too costly

I do applaud you thinking out of the box

Great seeing you again, Dan! Hey, that flywheel was actually cast within 24 hours of me exiting my mother's womb. I want you to remember that when you are bolting it back on to the crankshaft!

Nothing like a good build thread, especially when Dan is the author!

Just got back from a long Easter weekend. Greg and I only had one day.....but we still were able to assemble the rolling chassis.

The tires and wheels are a mock up set....I still need to apply the stripes on the driveshaft.

Quickly comes together when all parts are ready and available. Interesting how the A-body bellhousings are aluminum color and the Bs are orange. Looks good either way.
