My very first original Car / Chevelle....which I still own to this very same day

Brian asked if I could post pictures of my 1972 Chevelle......it is NOT a Post Sedan.......so here she is from when I pulled her out of storage back in 2006.....She looks the same today.

This is a Car that I can NEVER EVER part with, she will NEVER BE For SALE!......My Dad and I did a "Father and Son" project with this Chevelle.....I was only 13 years old.....when My Dad brought her home.....we took the car apart, I removed all and any emissions off the car, repainted the car, added Slot Wheels, Big Boss 50`s Tires in the rear, Big Boss 60`s in the front, Rebuilt the engine, added engine dress up kit, added a 12 bolt. When I turned 16 my Dad threw me the keys and said...."She`s all yours son" I learned how to drive in this car, got my drivers license with this car.....many, many stories and fond memories.

My plans are to get her back on the road in the near future......the Pearl Paint is Lacquer that was painted in 1984. The original Paint is Mohave Gold. I will repaint the car once again......just not sure what color. Before I got married I was building the car to compete in the NMCA 10.5 in tire class. Well that never happened. Many, many changes over the years to this Chevelle.....including 4 paint color changes (Mohave Gold, Monaco Orange, VW Scirocco Green, Pearl White)  3 different engines, 7 transmissions and 2 rear ends. I never Drag Raced the car.....but as you can tell from all the drive train changes I heavily street raced this Chevelle almost every weekend, Nitrous broke a lot of parts on the street scene......back when life was at it`s Best

Hope you all Enjoy this thread.....from 2006.

In 2016 the car will have been in storage for 30 years!

I like reminissing in others memories just as I do my own.

Not sure if your Father is still with you but hope he is,as I lost mine in 2004 and have regretted many many times since alot of missed opportunities to thank or spend extra time with him. He still occupys my dreams on many nites and reassures me he is still looking after me while I dream.

I tell everyone I was born and raised at Fairburn Dragstrip and most likely conceived there as well. Yes high octane race fuel runs through my viens and he filled the jugs!!!

Very well said Brian......I am very lucky to still have my parents.....they will both be visiting us tomorrow as we are celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary.

I am certain your Dad is looking and watching over you....he is your gardian angel.

Brian/Dan,

Very nice comments guys. Dads are the rock of the family.

My Parents are traveling for a year in Canada and now the US till spring, I face timed with them last night on my kids I-Pods. Dad and I agreed we will do two decks on my house upon their return. Dad and I worked side by side for five months renovating the house we live in, and it was the best time of my life. We are closer than ever and our relationship changed to friends.

Remember the Dads that are passed, and cherish the ones that are here, and we need to be great Dads to our kids.

On that note, better get Jamie off to early morning hockey practice, and let my Beautiful, Chevelle Loving Wife get her Beauty sleep. She turns 40 TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big plans, Whoot Whoot.

Ryan

Who says guys don't share their emotions?

As for the 72...........

My vote would be.............just stick it together with what ever parts you have laying around and break her sleeping spell. She will be fun, and fast, and fun, and fun.

If needed you can PSMCR prep and sell me your 2 door post in August of 2015 so you can focus on this bad girl. If you want her back later no problem, just find another one for me and we are good. (Like a car babysitter)

Great thread Dan. It's the first time that I've seen it.

Want my personal opinion?.....well you're gonna get it anyway! lol biggrin

Leave the pearl paint on it........put it together like you would have in 1986 and drive it....and go do some 's

Dan, I remember that thread from the SYC site now. Your attention to detail is amazing, even on a race car. I like what you were doing with the car and I would stick to your original plan. Just saying....

Dan, Seems your original plan for the car back then is the general consensus still.

I have never seen that much positive camber on an A body with the engine out.
