my HenryJ build

I will add as things progress. I have a few posts in the powertrain topic section. I noticed that the frame is bent both front and back so I will use the frame off the 53 for this build. Plans are to narrow the rear frame 4"s total which will just clear the sparetire well.

With the Buick V6 into the 51 I wanted to see what is interfering with the placement and found the steering box would not allow the engine to sit square in the frame. As I do not want to redo the front suspension I am looking at either lowering the box about an inch which will also give more oilpan clearance or cutting out the frame and moving the box over towards the drivers wheel. I am also going to cut the steering shaft and put in a U-joint.

So far the 51 body is unbolted from the frame and next is to raise it up and roll the frame out and under the 53. Henry

HenryJ, body off and frame. Sept'13 003.JPGHenryJ, body off and frame. Sept'13 006.JPGHenryJ, body off and frame. Sept'13 009.JPGGot the body off today. The frame is bent just before the front crossmember, on the frame just before the kickup and above the axle, all on the pass side. First will be to de-grease the frame and see if I can straighten the frame. Any tips, other than taking it to a frame shop, Henry.

I'm going to do it at home as I said, if not then I will use the 53 frame and narrow this one for the 53.

You COULD use a stout chain, a thick tree, and your 4x4 to pull it out...

We got the 51 frame under the 53 body. We stuck the straight axle under it using trailer springs.
