Yep, That`s the World Famous GM Reject....I`ll have to check my notes.....but a few extra add on options were included to this Post Sedan to dress it up a little. Such as the Rosewood Steering Wheel, the Bumperettes smile

I understand the NHRA and other governing bodies tech and regulations in 1969 were entirely different than what they are today; let's remember how we got here by looking at the history. So after searching for the car's history, we could determine the significance ?

Jeb,
Yes I am going to search the history of this car. The guy I got it from is trying to find out who "Cowboy" was, as that is 2 owners ago and that name is on the door glass.
This car started out black, then was red, then yellow and now blue. I'll try slowly stripping the paint off the driver's door to see if there is any graphics there.

Glad to hear that your a student of "History". I thought I would never be one, but it's turned out to be a very interesting facet of this hobby.

Jeb,

History is where it's at..... What will they be saying about us when we're gone?

Well Dan, that is a very good question. However, we all create history when we live our hobby. When we do that, it influences our friends and family. That said, my son loves his 64 Buick Skylark (a Buick 455 engine for it awaits on a stand) and my daughter put dibs on her grandmothers 67 OHC 6 Pontiac Firebird.

Does it get any better than that? Jeb

I've been asking about my car over at Yellowbullet.com, and have had a couple guys remember the car.

Here's one response.

Quote:

I need to ask a couple of questions..............

1.) Does the roll bar only have the hoop, rear bars and one door bar ?

2.) The rear suspension, does it have the upper and lower control arms removed and the old style Lakewood ladder bars welded in place ?

The reason I ask is there were a couple of Good Ole boys that brought us a 1969 Chevelle back in the mid nineties and we built them a 540, for the life of me can't remember the guys name, but his brother was in a wheelchair with a bullet lodged in his spine. They street raced this thing down by the Detroit City Airport area. This car ran mid to low nines which scared the hell out of me the way it was put together. They came up to our shop to build the motor so no one downtown knew anything about the motor.

The car looks familiar.

This car was raced at Detroit Dragway for many years. The owner was good friends with my father. Everyone call him Cowboy. (the name on the window). If I remember correctly this car was a stick car also, or it was when it was raced through the early 80's. Its seen some street action in the late 70's, but mostly track after that. Cowboy passed away a few years ago, great person. Known him sense I was 8 years old, I'm 45 now. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

 Jeb Olds,

Did you happen to find Rick's Chevelle on YouTube or are you just suggesting he searches YouTube?

Dan, I did look for Rick's Chevelle in a view videos, but I did not see it. YouTube may be a place to start. I did checkout the Detroit Dragway website; just to make sure they are still operating(I'm a West Coast boy). That may be a place to start also and find out who the track photographer is/was. If Rick finds a Competition Number on the car, then he can check the track records.

I looked at a lot of pictures and video for Detroit Dragway, but found nothing.
How could I find who the track photographer was?

Rick, contact the track owners/management directly via phone or website.

Good hunting, Jeb
